How to Activate Windows Server Standard (2019, 2022, 2025)

When you install Windows Server, it typically installs as an Evaluation Version. Before you can use your purchased product key from All Good Keys, you must first convert the operating system to a Full Retail Version using the Command Prompt.

Please follow these steps carefully to convert and activate your server.

Step 1: Download Windows Server

If you haven’t already installed your server, download the official Evaluation ISO from Microsoft using the link that matches your purchased version:

• Windows Server 2025: Download 2025 Evaluation
• Windows Server 2022: Download 2022 Evaluation
• Windows Server 2019: Download 2019 Evaluation

Step 2: Convert Evaluation Version to Full Version

You must run a few DISM commands to upgrade the edition. Note: The product key used in this specific step is a generic Microsoft conversion key, not your purchased activation key.

1. Open the Windows search bar, type CMD, right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
2. (Optional) Check your current version by pasting this command and pressing Enter:
   DISM /Online /Get-CurrentEdition
3. (Optional) View the available target editions you can upgrade to:
   DISM /online /Get-TargetEditions
4. Convert your server to Standard Edition. Copy and paste the command below that matches your server version, then press Enter:

For Windows Server 2025:

DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:TVRH6-WHNXV-R9WG3-9XRFY-MY832 /AcceptEula

For Windows Server 2022:

DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:VDYBN-27WPP-V4HQT-9VMD4-VMK7H /AcceptEula

For Windows Server 2019:

DISM /Online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:N69G4-B89J2-4G8F4-WWYCC-J464C /AcceptEula

(Reminder: This key is ONLY for converting the edition, it will not activate your server).

Step 3: Reboot and Activate

1. Once the DISM command finishes successfully, type Y in the command prompt to Reboot the machine.
2. After the server restarts, open the Windows Settings app.
3. Click on Update & Security, then select Activation from the left-hand menu.
4. Click the Change product key link.
5. Type or paste your unique 25-character product key that you received in your All Good Keys order confirmation email.
6. Click Next to complete the process and permanently activate your server!
